Based in Detroit, Patrick Ethen is an architecturally-trained light artist and designer, crafting ethereal experiences that celebrate the perception of light, color, and the passage of time.

From pieces for tabletops and walls to site-specific light installations, his notable permanent works include Sunset Streaker on the side of a new parking structure and Dawn Chorus in Core City Park, as well as temporary installations for Detroit Month of Design and Mo Pop Music Festival.

In fall 2024, Patrick Ethen had a solo show, Perpetual Dusk, composed of “future-minded light objects” in a burnt out warehouse in Detroit.

Working on public and private commissions, Patrick expects to complete a permanent outdoor sculpture located outside of a civic building in Detroit in 2025.
