EC3

Architecture, Planning, Artist Collaborations

Based in Los Angeles, EC3 is a cross-disciplinary design studio that integrates art and culture within everyday life.

Notable projects include True North and The Canopy, innovative housing developments integral to the resurgence of Detroit’s Core City neighborhood; two different installations of CHALET—named one of Artforum’s best exhibitions in 2013—with artist Piero Golia at the Nasher Sculpture Center and LACE; and the planning, concept, and design review for Atlassian Central, a net-zero hybrid-timber tower that anchors Sydney’s new Technology Precinct.

Focusing on cultural projects, EC3 has designed concepts for a sculptural art observation platform in the Arabian Peninsula, an expansion of an art and history museum in Switzerland, and expansions and reinstallations for museums across the U.S.

In addition to realizing Atlassian Central, EC3’s current projects include several mass timber commercial buildings as part of Orchard Park’s master plan in Idaho; the second phase of The Canopy in Detroit; a sculptural stair on an art collector’s estate; and the visitor experience for a new sports museum.

A member of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), the studio’s awards and recognition include the Holcim Foundation Award for Sustainable Construction, Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, and Progressive Architecture P/A Award. EC3 and its projects have been featured in Aishti, ARCHITECT, Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Arquine, AZURE, Cultured, DETAIL, Dezeen, Monocle, The Plan, The Sydney Morning Herald, T Magazine, Wallpaper*, among others.
